To enhance the Safari industry by broadening guests experience beyond the big 5 by enhancing the understanding and ability of Trackers in particular, but also Guides and Lodges in the importance of and interest in the broader eco-system underpinning the Safari experience.
In addition, to improve the attractiveness of Tracking as a career to both current incumbents and future entrants by supporting current training facilities and lobbying to improve employee benefits for Trackers.
The Sheldon Hooper Little 5 Million Foundation will endeavour to grow demand for South African tourism by amplifying and broadening the experience enjoyed by guests as they interact with the diversity of fauna and flora offered by South Africa’s natural heritage, and the insights they behold, enabled by capable and passionate industry frontline workers, whilst at the same time enjoying impeccable service and safety standards
On 18 August 2020 we lost a dedicated and capable Field Guide, Sheldon Hooper, who died tragically after being attacked by an elephant at a lodge in Limpopo in South Africa. Those who knew Sheldon, knew him to be a competent and passionate man, with a great sense of care for both the bush and his fellow man. Sheldon died bravely through his keen sense of duty to the safety of both lodge guests and staff alike.
The objects and mission of the Sheldon Hooper Little 5 Million Foundation NPC is aimed at furthering the vision and efforts of the late Field Guide, Sheldon Hooper, who was sadly lost on the 18 August 2020. In accordance with this, it is confirmed that the Company’s mission statement shall be as follows:
“The Sheldon Hooper Little 5 Million Foundation will endeavour to grow demand for South African tourism by amplifying and broadening the experience enjoyed by guests as they interact with the diversity of fauna and flora offered by South Africa’s natural heritage, and the insights they behold, enabled by capable and passionate industry frontline workers, whilst at the same time enjoying impeccable service and safety standards.”
The Sheldon Hooper Little 5 Million Foundation NPC is a non-profit company, as defined in the Companies Act 71 of 2008.
